Meet Lone Star’s licensed, certified counselor.
Let me introduce myself.
Hi, I’m Catarina.
I’m a licensed therapist specializing in EMDR and addressing a wide range of issues, including trauma, depression, grief, and anxiety. With nine years of experience as a Behavioral Health Officer in the military, I’ve developed the skills to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and varying needs. I’d love to come alongside you in your mental health journey.
The idea of going to therapy can be intimidating for many of us. Finding a safe space to heal and trusting someone with our deepest selves is a challenge. Remember, seeking help is a sign of strength, and we all need support at times. I’ve personally benefited from therapy, and I consider it a privilege to be your therapist—it's truly my passion!
As a licensed therapist, I primarily use EMDR to treat PTSD and address issues such as grief, anxiety, depression, pain, and addictions. If you’re feeling stuck in your relationships, behaviors, or emotions, I believe EMDR can be one of the most effective methods to help you move forward.
I earned my undergraduate degree in psychology in 2009, followed by a master’s in community counseling in 2012 and a second master’s in social work in 2017. In 2015, I was commissioned as a behavioral health officer in the U.S. Army. My professional experience primarily involved working with military service members facing a range of challenges, including depression, anxiety, OCD, addictions, grief, and schizophrenia. A significant focus of my practice has been treating PTSD related to combat, as well as military and non-military sexual and childhood trauma. This work provided me opportunities to engage with diverse populations, encompassing various ethnicities, races, religions, and cultures. I am trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, cognitive processing therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and EMDR.
